Construction of Passive RFID Tags

There are lots of different types of RFID tags (See Understanding the Different Types of RFID Tags) but a question we often answer is what makes up a RFID label?   In this post we attempt to answer this question and highlight the most common type of construction we see for passive rfid tags.

Passive RFID Tag & Label Parts

Most passive RFID tags are usually made of a few different parts:

  • The inlay (a microchip/antenna /polyester film combination)

RFID Converting

Many converting companies now incorporate electronics in their finished products. Label converting produces RFID labels that incorporate RFID chips and antenna inlays. Volume electronics manufacturing practices including static electricity control, electronic manufacturing tests and similar processes are used by RFID converters.
